It's tacky tourist shopping day! But the first order of business was to get Pauls shaggy hair cut.
After the trip to the barber we found the tackiest tourist shop there was (we bypassed the expensive pearl shops but Claire and I did drool in the windows).
Back to the kind of shopping we can afford - Claire and Luke bought t shirts and we got a few postcards and some more fridge magnets to add to the collection and sam bought a very cute stuffed green turtle he has called Tibby or Timmy - seems to depend on his mood.
After the shopping adventure we headed to the supermarket but I never made it past the hairdressers. A couple of nights ago Deb braided my hair and when I got up the next morning she and Paul and my precious children were laughing at the grey through my hair so I decided to do something about it. While I waited for my appointment I figured I could check out the shops or have a pedicure - pedicure it was! So Paul did something with the kids ( don't know and to be honest don't care) while I spent two hours being pampered.
Back to the camp and looking at least ten years younger we got ready for our sunset camel ride along Cable Beach.
What fun! The camels were all lined up waiting for us and while we were waiting we got to know some of their names and what they were like. There was one camel called Bully who looked like he would rather be asleep than about to do a ride and I joked that I didn't want that camel - take one guess which one I ended up on ? He was so funny - Paul Sam and I mounted him and the trainers had gotten him to stand up and if you have never been on a camel they get up with their hind legs first so you have to hold on and lean back. Well no sooner had Bully stood up than he decided to sit down again. Thankfully none of us fell off because really if it was going to happen to anyone it would have been me.
Maree being the sympathetic friend she is promptly laughed until she had tears rolling down her face. Once the ride got under way everything seemed to go smoothly. The sunset was incredible and we got some brilliant photos. As the ride was finishing the trainers went through the dismounting instructions and how they would start at the front and work back - Bully had other ideas - as soon as they stopped walking, down he went so we ended up being first off.
